We provide a range of family law services that are tailored to the circumstances and needs of our individual clients.
In some cases, clients only want preliminary advice.
Clients who have recently separated often find it very hard to think objectively about resolving important legal issues because they are influenced by emotional aspects of their relationship breakdown.
Other clients feel that they are being pressured by their former partner and want to know their options. Clients can be frustrated and feel that everything is taking too long, and want to know how to finalise their arrangements.
Some clients who have not yet separated are worried about what might happen with their children or their financial situation if their relationship issues are not resolved.
In all these cases we provide clear and concise advice that is focussed on our client’s concerns.
Certain clients need legal advice to clarify some key points before negotiating their own settlement. We can assist by providing preliminary advice and by preparing the documents needed to make any agreement reached legally binding.
In other cases, clients are assisted by us conducting negotiations for them. Negotiations between lawyers allow our clients to take a step back from the dispute while still remaining involved and calling the shots. Negotiations can include Roundtable Conferences or Mediation. We aim to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients, taking into account their particular circumstances and priorities.
In a small minority of cases, strong action needs to be taken by starting Court proceedings. This step might be necessary if a client’s former partner will not negotiate, or will not disclose their assets or resources, or is under a legal disability. Often, simply starting the Court process will bring about a settlement. If not, we have the skills and experience to run cases to trial.
In all cases, we listen to our clients and ensure that we gain a thorough understanding of their circumstances, needs and priorities. We can then assess which processes are better suited to resolve their particular legal issues and advise on the advantages and disadvantages of each option
